EXECUTIVE

CEO, Privately-held Multinational Retail Group 

Client Priorities:

Fidelio worked with the Chair to define roles and responsibilities for this UK-based multi-billion startup role leading global retail investment, including acquisitions and directly managing the portfolio.

Outcome:

Fidelio placed a former managing director in a major investment bank in the CEO role, as well as two other candidates as deputy CEO and CFO.

Chief Sustainability Officer, FTSE 250 Technical Products Group

Client Priorities:

Fidelio worked with the Executive Committee to develop a detailed role description and objectives for this newly-created position with oversight of sustainability strategy to sit on the company’s Executive Committee

Outcome: 

Fidelio worked with the organisation to define the role and placed a high-profile Chief Sutainability Officer for the organisations transition into the FTSE 100

CFO,
Private Equity owned UK Fintech 

Client Priorities:

Fidelio worked with the CEO and Chair of Audit to define requirements for a qualified external hire:  a CFO to lead capital raising, support the company’s growth ambitions, and plan an eventual exit.

  

Outcome:

Fidelio assembled a list of strong candidates from which a CFO was appointed, and went on to build the CFO’s team of executives. This included the Head of Risk, Head of Markets, Financial Reporting Head and General Counsel.  A highly successful trade sale ultimately ensued.

Client Priorities:

Fidelio worked with the CFO to develop role description and objectives for this critical position in a fast-growing company which places sustainability front and centre.

 

Outcome:

Fidelio accessed a broad longlist of highly qualified candidates from which a UK-based woman was selected for relocation to Switzerland.

Outcome:

From Fidelio’s exceptionally strong long- and shortlists an ethnic minority candidate with relevant sector experience was appointed, and relocated to Luxemburg from London.

Audit & Remuneration Chairs, FTSE 250 Property Company

Client Priorities:

Fidelio conducted a search for a Non-Executive Director to serve as Chair of the Audit Committee for a FTSE 250 property company. 

​

Outcome:

Fidelio developed a compelling and distinctive candidate brief which attracted a strong pool of diverse candidates, all of whom met the key criteria. Ultimately the company decided to appoint two of Fidelio’s female candidates, one of whom is from an ethnically diverse background.  The first was appointed as Audit Chair and the other as a successor for the Remuneration Committee Chair.

Chair, SID and Committee Chair, FTSE 250 Real Estate Investment Trust

Client Priorities: Fidelio was approached to support Chair succession at this fast-growing FTSE 250 listed REIT in preparation for a transformational merger.  

​

Outcome: Fidelio mapped the current skills and expertise of the Board by compiling a skills matrix based on interviews with all Board Members. The Board decided to appoint an ethnically diverse Chair and a second candidate as the SID.  In parallel Fidelio was mandated to conduct the search for the Chair of the Management Committee.  From a very strong longlist the Board appointed an ethnically diverse woman to the role.

Succession for Chairs of Audit & Risk, Privately Owned Regulated Utility Company

Client Priorities: Fidelio worked with the Board to identify a new member with a deep understanding of infrastructure and regulation who could bring diversity and Committee Chair experience to assist with Board succession. 

  

Outcome: A strong diverse longlist was generated to improve Board effectiveness resulting in the appointment of a female candidate who a year later was appointed the Chair of the Audit & Risk committee.

Remuneration Committee Chair, European Subsidiary of a Large Japanese Financial Services Group

Client Priorities: Fidelio worked with the Board to define a candidate Brief for this complex role which required deep technical and regulatory expertise alongside exceptional sensitivity in navigating a distinct business culture. 

​

Outcome: Fidelio leveraged its international network to generate an expert, diverse longlist, from which a female candidate was appointed to the Board as Chair of the Remuneration Committee, and a second woman was appointed as Chair of the Risk Committee.  Independent Directors on the Board went from all-male to majority female within a year.

Supervisory Board Member, Chair of Remuneration Committe, TecDAX-listed German Laser Technology Group  

Client Priorities: Fidelio worked with the Supervisory Board Chair to develop a compelling Candidate Brief for this position which required an in-depth understanding of German governance procedures as well as global HR experience

Outcome: From a strong longlist of highly qualified candidates the Supervisory Board appointed a female candidate to a previously all-male Board.

Client Priorities:

The board required two candidates with broad business experience who were not, however, qualified accountants, and with a particular focus on an international perspective and on reputation management.

Outcome:

From an extremely strong longlist Fidelio placed a woman and a man in these roles, and repeated the same search three years later at the end of their allotted terms.

Mark brings to Search a deep understanding of the value of process and sets up Fidelio’s searches to succeed with robust project management.  Mark works with clients across a range of sectors and executive roles.

Prior to Fidelio, Mark spent 5 years in senior management roles within Executive Search working with clients across multiple sectors & geographies.

Mark also has managing director experience of companies in consulting, media and manufacturing sectors and has led start ups, turnarounds, acquisitions and disposals.  The common theme of Mark’s professional career is a passionate interest in how individuals shape high performing businesses
