HBS Club of London: What the Chair Wants from His/Her Board
Fidelio was pleased to moderate a panel discussion “What the Chair Wants from His/Her Board” with Harvard Business School Club of London.
At a time when Boards continue to face increased scrutiny and complexity, the HBS Club of London was delighted to welcome Gillian Karran-Cumberlege, Co-Founder and Partner of Fidelio Partners, as moderator to explore with leading Chairs “What the Chair Wants from His/Her Board”.
Panellists included Sir Peter Gershon (Chair of National Grid plc), Mike Clasper (Chair of Coats Group plc), Bronwyn Curtis (Chair of JPMorgan Asian Investment Trust), Carl-Peter Forester (Chair of Chemring Group plc) and Jamie Pike (Chair of Spirax-Sarco Engineering)
Our aim was to understand how Chairs of major companies:
– Lead the Board
– Build the Board in terms of Board composition and Board succession
– Engage with the Board and Executive
– Engage with shareholders and stakeholders and drive value
This also led to an exploration of: the role of the Chair, the route to becoming Chair, and how to best contribute as a Board Member.
